It is the mission of the Coalition for Family and Children's Services in Iowa to influence and shape policy and practice for the betterment of Iowa children and families and the organizations that serve them. The Executive Director serves as the chief executive of the Coalition for all of the Coalition’s affairs, activities, and programs. Consistent with policies and procedures approved by the Board, the incumbent directs the activities of the Coalition to assure that goals and priorities are met and desired results are achieved. As chief spokesperson, the incumbent effectively forwards the interests and initiatives of the Coalition. The incumbent also provides leadership in responding to important child welfare issues relating to public policy, legislation and state government initiatives, and maintains a productive relationship with the Board in the sharing of leadership responsibilities for the Coalition, being recognized in the community as an expert in child welfare issues with high visibility in such matters.

Master’s degree with concentration in business, public policy, human services, or other related field plus a minimum of five years of responsible management experience or equivalent required. Prior experience in association management and human services or other nonprofit environment helpful with knowledge of child welfare issues preferred. Proven experience in governmental relations and/or lobbying preferred. Experience in budgeting and fiscal matters, project and change management; board relations and governance; and marketing/public relations helpful.
