In-home workers face many difficulties, including working with clients with mental health conditions. Mental Health Fundamentals explores five common mental health conditions and gives workers practical guidance on how to communicate with clients without getting caught up in their drama. Participants will learn about the connection between genetics, environments, and lifestyles in the development of a mental health condition; communication techniques to assist clients to replace maladaptive behaviors with positive ones; and skills to de-escalate clients experiencing a mental health crisis.   Registration closes 48 hours before training.

Trainer: Billy Claywell - Billy W. Claywell, LMSW has been in the human service field since 1988. He has worked as an in-home service provider, supervisor of a family preservation project, administrator of a family and children’s program, grant writer, and is currently the Clinical Director for Corinthian House and provides therapy for their residents.
 

Intended Audience: Family Centered Services (FCS) Staff; Qualified Residential Treatment Program Staff (QRTP), Shelter Staff (Child Welfare Emergency Services), Supervised Apartment Living Staff (SAL) Direct Care/Front-Line Staff and Supervisors 

The Training Room will open at 9:10 AM. Training will start promptly at 9:30 AM. This training is scheduled until 12:30pm.
