04.23.26 Safe In Every Place – Field Safety Essentials for Child Welfare Staff (Virtual)

While in the field, your personal safety comes first and foremost. You must be on guard at all times and understand that the potential for an attack can come from anyone, anywhere at any time. Each interaction must be assessed to determine am I at risk right now? And if so, what is my action plan to stay safe? This workshop teaches personal safety vigilance and strategies to use during home visits, walking to your car and while driving your car, and navigating city blocks & apartment buildings. Also discussed are verbal de-escalation tactics to use to diffuse crisis situations. Learn the safety habits to stay safe in every place.  Registration closes 48 hours before the training.

TRAINER: Presidential Consultants: Val Larkin, Val Larkin is a Senior Trainer with Presidential Consultants, LLC and a licensed social worker with more than 30 years of experience as a clinical practitioner and human services leader. She brings extensive expertise in supporting trauma-exposed individuals and strengthening the professionals who serve them. 

Val has trained and supervised frontline staff across multiple helping professions, with a focus on trauma-informed care, crisis response, case documentation, workplace safety, and ethical practice. She also provides coaching to individuals and organizations on policies and procedures that align with regulatory requirements. 

A trusted consultant to foster care and human services organizations, Val delivers practical, safety-focused training that helps teams strengthen performance while improving care outcomes.

The Training Room will open at 9:10AM. Training will begin promptly at 9:30AM. This training is scheduled until 12:30PM.
