Billy Claywell has helped many families and children grieve the loss of a loved one and the loss that comes with being separated from family Good Grief teaches that no grief is good, but that grief is necessary and grieved. Many of the children served in the child welfare system have experienced great loss and this course will help the participant learn the impact that these losses have on emotions and behaviors. Participants will learn that frequent moves that many of these children experience further negatively impacts them. Human service providers will learn strategies to help survivors of loss to process their grief, manage transitions, and re-instill hope. Intended Audience: Family Centered Services Staff (FCS); Qualified Residential Treatment Program Staff (QRTP), Shelter Staff (Child Welfare Emergency Services), Supervised Apartment Living Staff (SAL); Recruitment/Retention Training Support Staff (RRTS) Direct Care/Front-Line Staff and Supervisors Location Info: TRAINERS: Billy W. Claywell, LMSW has been in the human service field since 1988. He has worked as an in-home service provider, foster/adoptive care caseworker, supervisor of a family preservation project, administrator of a family and children’s program, and grant writer. He is currently the Clinical Director for Corinthian House and provides clinical oversight and therapy for their residents. Billy has also trained on a variety of topics, including trauma informed care, client engagement, and mental health. His trainings include anecdotal experiences to support evidenced based practices He and his wife were foster parents for several years as well and his family is comprised of natural and adopted children.
