Domestic Violence Fundamentals

Description: This 3 hour course is an introduction to domestic violence concepts and how they relate to family and child welfare. Participants will learn about what domestic violence is, how to identify various tactics of abuse, and how domestic violence impacts children from birth through their adolescent years. We will also explore how domestic violence impacts parenting and how professionals can help promote resilience and healing in families experiencing this type of trauma.

Registration will begin at 8:30 AM. Training will start promptly at 9:00 AM

There will be a Domestic Violence Intermediate course offered February 4, 2021. If you wish to partake in both courses, you must register for each one separately.

Please note: Priority seating is provided to staff working within one of the DHS child welfare contracts, including: Family Centered Services (FCS); QRTP/Group Foster Care; Shelter Services; Aftercare Services; Supervised Apartment Living (SAL); Recruitment, Retention, Training and Support Services (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council. If you do not work within one of the child welfare contracts with the State, you may be bumped from the course and placed on a wait list.
