This training will discuss the broad spectrum of major contributors to a child’s behavior, what needs to be addressed first and what short/long term reasonable outcomes are. The lifespan consequences of trauma on an individual/community and staff’s role as protectors and educators. They will also learn how to engage in and explore concrete processes to stabilize attachment, develop safe relationships and effective emotional management. LOCATION INFO:Christamore Family Treatment905 S. Iris Street Mt. Pleasant, IA 52641 Trainer: Sara Butler Shoop - Sara Butler Shoop is a LMSW living in Burlington, IA with her husband and two young children. Sara has been a Trauma Informed Care Coordinator through the Child Welfare Provider Training Academy since 2012 and has worked with children and families for over 30 years. Registration will begin at 8:30 AM. Training will start promptly at 9:00 AM. Lunch is on your own. This training is scheduled until 4:30pm. Please note: Priority seating is provided to staff working within one of the curerent DHS child welfare service contracts, including: Family Centered Services (FCS); Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) / Group Foster Care; Child Welfare Emergency Services (CWES): Aftercare Services; Supervised Apartment Living (SAL); Recruitment, Retention, Training and Support Services (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council. If you do not work within one of the current DHS child welfare services contract, you may be bumped from the course and placed on a wait list.
