Safe in Every Place (Virtual)

While in the field, your personal safety comes first and foremost. You must be on guard at all times and understand that the potential for an attack can come from anyone, anywhere at any time. Each interaction must be assessed to determine am I at risk right now? And if so, what is my action plan to stay safe? This workshop teaches personal safety vigilance and strategies to use during home visits, walking to your car and while driving your car, and navigating city blocks & apartment buildings. Also discussed are verbal de-escalation tactics to use to diffuse crisis situations. Learn the safety habits to stay safe in every place.

TRAINERS:
Anthony President - BA, Sociology. Extensive research of existing sources, Training and Consulting on the topic of Field Safety for public and private human services Agencies for over 13 years. Direct Service experience in Office Safety includes- Office Safety Committee Team Lead, LTV Steel (responsible for attending the company’s National Office Safety Training and presenting trainings to Leadership and Staff on Office Safety Compliance), Advanced Management Partner- Cintas Corporation (responsible for administering company Office Safety Policy and Procedures for 17charges under my direct supervision, training new hires on Office & Field Safety polices and emergency procedures. Direct Service Child Welfare Worker- experience working directly with vulnerable clients in crisis and effectively resolving conflicts.

Registration will begin at 12:30 PM. Training will begin promptly at 1:00PM. This training is scheduled until 4PM.

 

Child Welfare Provider Training Academy: Participant Expectations
To ensure a positive and productive experience, please review the following expectations: 

 

  1. Attendance: Please attend all scheduled sessions on time and stay for the full duration. Notify us in advance if you’re unable to attend.
  2. Engagement: Actively participate in discussions and activities. Come prepared and ready to contribute.
  3. Professional Conduct: Treat trainers and fellow participants with respect. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
  4. Confidentiality: Respect the confidentiality of personal or sensitive information shared during the training.
  5. Inclusivity: Contribute to a welcoming, non-discriminatory environment. Respect diverse perspectives.
  6. Technology (For virtual sessions): Ensure you have a stable internet connection and appropriate technology. Keep your camera on and mute your microphone when not speaking.

 

Please note: Priority seating is provided to staff working within one of the current DHS child welfare service contracts, including: Family Centered Services (FCS); Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) / Group Foster Care; Child Welfare Emergency Services (CWES): Aftercare Services; Supervised Apartment Living (SAL); Recruitment, Retention, Training and Support Services (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council. If you do not work within one of the current DHS child welfare services contract, you may be bumped from the course and placed on a waitlist.
