Statewide Trust-Based Relational Intervention® Practitioner Cohort

Building TBRI Capacity Across Iowa

The Coalition for Family & Children’s Services in Iowa is launching a Statewide TBRI Practitioner Cohort to support residential providers serving youth across Iowa.

Through this grant-funded opportunity from Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation (MolinaCares), selected participants will complete Trust-Based Relational Intervention® Practitioner Training and serve as TBRI Champions within their organizations.

This initiative is designed to support implementation — not just training — by helping organizations build practical, trauma-informed tools that strengthen relationships, support regulation, reduce escalation, and improve outcomes for youth and families.

What is TBRI?

Trust‑Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) is a holistic, attachment‑based, trauma‑informed model designed to support children and youth who have experienced adversity. TBRI® equips caregivers and professionals with practical strategies to address behavioral, emotional, and relational challenges by meeting the needs of the whole child.

TBRI is often summarized as:
Connect before you correct.
TBRI supports staff in building trust, strengthening relationships, promoting regulation, and teaching skills through daily interactions with youth.

Who Should Apply?

Applicants should:

  • Work for a Coalition member organization
